Installing a Vietnamobile eSIM for Vietnam
- Check that your phone is eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked (Settings → About → "Digital SIM" or "EID" on Android, "Add eSIM" on iPhone).
- Buy the plan on Vietnamobile's site or app and install it at home on Wi-Fi: scan the QR code or let the app add it.
- Label the line "Vietnam", keep your home SIM for calls and SMS, and turn on data roaming for the eSIM line only.
- Leave mobile data on your home line off before take-off. On landing, select the Vietnamobile line for data: the plan starts counting at first connection.
- No signal after a few minutes? Toggle airplane mode, then pick the network manually in the cellular settings.

Vietnamobile in Vietnam: questions
Which network does Vietnamobile use in Vietnam?
Vietnamobile connects to Vietnamobile. That choice matters more than the brand. Viettel has the widest coverage, especially in the northern mountains, the central highlands and the islands; Vinaphone and MobiFone are excellent in cities and on the coast; Vietnamobile is weak outside the big cities.
Is Vietnamobile's unlimited plan really unlimited?
Vietnamobile does not sell an unlimited plan for Vietnam: all its plans have a fixed data allowance.
Do I get a Vietnamese phone number with Vietnamobile?
Yes: Vietnamobile's Vietnam plans come with a +84 number, which works for bank OTP codes, Zalo and Grab.
Can I share Vietnamobile's connection as a hotspot?
Yes
When does the Vietnamobile plan start?
The plan starts at purchase. Install it at home, keep data roaming off on that line until you land.
