Verdict
Ubigi, the travel brand of NTT's Transatel, sells a single Vietnam plan on its website: 10 GB for 30 days at 12.90 dollars, on Vinaphone, with a six-month activation window. It is simple and fairly priced, but the catalogue is thin unless you go through the app, the plan is Vinaphone-only, and the help desk works by contact form.

- Ubigi is in our "checked monthly" group: prices, network, caps and promo codes are re-verified every month.
Ubigi's Vietnam offer is a single, sensible plan: 10 GB over 30 days for 12.90 dollars, which covers maps, messaging and photos for most two-week trips. It activates when you first connect in Vietnam and stays valid for six months before that, so buying early is safe.
The network is Vinaphone (VNPT), excellent in cities and along the coast, thinner than Viettel in the mountains. Ubigi's site shows a 5G badge but does not confirm 5G for Vietnam specifically. The recurring complaint on Trustpilot is an eSIM that does not connect on landing until the APN or the network is set by hand: our installation steps below cover this.
If 10 GB is what you need, Ubigi is a fine pick from a large operator. If you want more choice, an unlimited plan or Viettel coverage, look at the comparison table.

Installing a Ubigi eSIM for Vietnam
- Check that your phone is eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked (Settings → About → "Digital SIM" or "EID" on Android, "Add eSIM" on iPhone).
- Buy the plan on Ubigi's site or app and install it at home on Wi-Fi: scan the QR code or let the app add it.
- Label the line "Vietnam", keep your home SIM for calls and SMS, and turn on data roaming for the eSIM line only.
- Leave mobile data on your home line off before take-off. On landing, select the Ubigi line for data: the plan starts counting at first connection.
- No signal after a few minutes? Toggle airplane mode, then pick the network manually in the cellular settings.

Ubigi in Vietnam: questions
Which network does Ubigi use in Vietnam?
Ubigi connects to Vinaphone. That choice matters more than the brand. Viettel has the widest coverage, especially in the northern mountains, the central highlands and the islands; Vinaphone and MobiFone are excellent in cities and on the coast; Vietnamobile is weak outside the big cities.
Is Ubigi's unlimited plan really unlimited?
Ubigi does not sell an unlimited plan for Vietnam: all its plans have a fixed data allowance.
Do I get a Vietnamese phone number with Ubigi?
No. Ubigi is data-only: no Vietnamese number, so no Vietnamese SMS. Calls go through WhatsApp or your home line in roaming.
Can I share Ubigi's connection as a hotspot?
Yes
When does the Ubigi plan start?
The plan starts at first connection in Vietnam. Install it at home, keep data roaming off on that line until you land.
