Vietnam eSIM — code updated October 9, 2026
Trip.com eSIM Promo Code: 5% Off with ESIMTRIP5
An exclusive code on Trip.com data eSIMs for Vietnam. Convenient if you are already booking your trains or hotels on Trip.com — but read our comparison before you buy: it is not always the best-value eSIM.
How to use the Trip.com eSIM promo code
The code is entered at payment, as for the other categories. First check that your phone is compatible.
- 1
Copy ESIMTRIP5
The code applies to the data eSIMs sold by Trip.com, for Vietnam as well as regional Asia plans.
- 2
Set Trip.com to English and USD
Use the selector in the top-right corner of the site to choose the language "English" and the currency USD before you book. One caveat: these codes were issued by Trip.com's French team and validated in euros. If a code is refused at checkout, switch the site to French and EUR and try again — that is the fallback that works.
- 3
Choose your plan
In the eSIM section, select "Vietnam" (Southeast Asia tab), then the duration and data allowance. For two weeks of maps, Grab and messaging, 1 GB per day is comfortable.
- 4
Paste the code before paying
On the payment page, open the "Promo code" field, paste ESIMTRIP5 and check the total. The installation QR code then arrives by email: install the eSIM before you leave, activate it when you land.

ESIMTRIP5Trip.com eSIM, Holafly or a local SIM: the right choice for Vietnam
We have a partnership with Trip.com and another with Holafly. Here is the straight comparison, because that is what actually helps you.
- ✓
Holafly: 20% off and unlimited data. Our code VIETNAMTOURISM gives 20% off the Holafly unlimited-data eSIM for Vietnam (Vinaphone network). For a stay of more than a week where you use a lot of data, it is the option we recommend first.
- ✓
Trip.com: convenient if you are already on Trip.com. Trip.com plans are priced by volume (a few GB over a few days) and often cheap. With the 5% from the code, it is a good pick for a short stay or moderate use, and everything stays in the same app as your tickets.
- ✓
Local SIM: the cheapest, passport required. A Viettel or Vinaphone SIM costs $3 to $9 in town or at the airport, with a Vietnamese number, but you have to buy it on the spot and register it with your passport. Nothing works the moment you land.
- ✓
Check compatibility. iPhone XS/XR and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, and most recent models support eSIM. The phone must be carrier-unlocked.
For unlimited data at 20% off, see our Holafly discount code.
How much do you save with ESIMTRIP5?
The 5% comes off the plan price. On an eSIM the discount stays modest — hence the comparison with Holafly:
| Booking | Listed price | With the code |
|---|---|---|
| Trip.com Vietnam eSIM, 5 GB / 7 days | ≈ $9 | ≈ $8.55 |
| Trip.com Vietnam eSIM, 10 GB / 15 days | ≈ $15 | ≈ $14.25 |
| Holafly Vietnam eSIM, unlimited 15 days (code VIETNAMTOURISM) | ≈ $52 | ≈ $41.60 |
Indicative prices in USD seen in October 2026; price lists change often. The exact amount appears before payment on each site.

Does the Trip.com eSIM work in Vietnam?
Yes, Trip.com's Vietnam plans run on the local carriers (Viettel or Vinaphone depending on the plan) and cover cities and tourist routes well. As with all eSIMs, remote mountain areas (Ha Giang, northern Cat Ba) remain patchy.
ESIMTRIP5 or the Holafly code: which should I choose?
For a short stay and moderate use, the Trip.com eSIM with ESIMTRIP5 often works out cheaper. For two weeks or more with maps, video and tethering, the unlimited Holafly eSIM with code VIETNAMTOURISM (−20%) is more comfortable.
Can I keep my home number?
Yes. A data eSIM runs alongside your usual SIM: you still receive your bank's SMS codes and your calls, while data goes through the eSIM. Turn off data roaming on your home line to avoid charges.
Does the code work on eSIMs for other countries?
Yes, ESIMTRIP5 applies to Trip.com's eSIM section whatever the destination or regional plan.
