Does Holafly work well in Vietnam?
Holafly's Vietnam eSIM uses the Vinaphone (VNPT) network, with solid 4G/5G coverage in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang and Ha Long. As with every operator, coverage thins out in the remote mountains — the Ha Giang loop or the far side of Cat Ba island have dead zones whatever SIM you use.
eSIM or local SIM card in Vietnam?
A local Viettel or Vinaphone SIM costs USD 3–8 and gives you a Vietnamese phone number, but you have to buy it in person and register it with your passport. A Holafly eSIM costs more and has no local number, but it is installed before departure, works the moment you land and keeps your usual number active. Convenience against cost.
Is my phone compatible with an eSIM?
Every iPhone from the XS, XR and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and later support eSIM, as do most flagships released since 2020. The phone must also be carrier-unlocked.
