How to use the Trip.com train promo code
The discount is not automatic: the code is entered at the payment step. Three minutes is all it takes, as long as you pick the right code for your situation.
- 1
Choose your code
First booking on Trip.com? Copy TRIPTRAIN5P (−5%, capped at €20). Already booked on Trip.com before? Use TRIPTRAIN2P (−2%). A "new customer" code entered on an existing account will be refused.
- 2
Set Trip.com to English and USD
Use the selector in the top-right corner of the site to choose the language "English" and the currency USD before you book. One caveat: these codes were issued by Trip.com's French team and validated in euros. If a code is refused at checkout, switch the site to French and EUR and try again — that is the fallback that works.
- 3
Select your route
Our link opens the Vietnam train search directly (Hanoi → Da Nang by default). Change the stations (Hue, Nha Trang, Sai Gon, Lao Cai for Sapa…) and the date, then pick your class: soft seat, hard sleeper or soft sleeper.
- 4
Paste the code before paying
On the payment page, open the "Promo code" field, paste the code and apply it. The total must drop before you confirm the order — if it does not, do not pay, and check the conditions below.

TRIPTRAIN2PBooking trains in Vietnam on Trip.com: what you need to know
The official Vietnam Railways website (dsvn.vn) remains the reference, but its interface and foreign-card payment put a lot of travelers off. Trip.com is one of the most convenient English-language alternatives, alongside 12Go and Baolau.
- ✓
English interface, pay by card in USD. Stations, classes and timetables are shown in English, you pay by card in USD (or your own currency) and the e-ticket lands in your inbox. That is the main advantage over dsvn.vn.
- ✓
The main tourist routes are covered. Hanoi → Hue (about 13 hours overnight), Hue → Da Nang (2.5 hours, the most beautiful stretch of coastline in the country), Hanoi → Lao Cai for Sapa (8 hours overnight), Nha Trang → Ho Chi Minh City. Long-distance buses and sleeper buses are also available.
- ✓
Book early for sleeper berths. Soft sleepers (4 berths) sell out first on Hanoi–Hue and Hanoi–Lao Cai, especially around Tet and in summer. Allow one to two weeks ahead; the discount applies whatever the class.
- ✓
Compare the total shown. Third-party platforms sometimes add a service fee on top of the official fare. Check the final price before you confirm: with the code, Trip.com is usually level with or below the other resellers, rarely below the official site.

How much do you save with TRIPTRAIN5P?
The 5% discount is capped at €20 per order for new customers. A few ballpark figures on common routes:
| Booking | Listed price | With the code |
|---|---|---|
| Hue → Da Nang, soft seat | ≈ $11 | ≈ $10.45 |
| Hanoi → Da Nang, soft sleeper | ≈ $33 | ≈ $31.35 |
| Hanoi → Lao Cai (Sapa), soft sleeper ×2 | ≈ $88 | ≈ $83.60 |
| Family of 4, Hanoi → Hue sleepers | ≈ $175 | ≈ $166.25 |
Indicative prices in USD, seen on Trip.com in October 2026; they vary by date, train and class. The exact amount appears before payment.

What is the difference between TRIPTRAIN5P and TRIPTRAIN2P?
TRIPTRAIN5P gives 5% off, capped at €20, and is for new Trip.com customers (first booking on the account). The cap is set by Trip.com in euros, which is why we show it in €: at checkout in USD it works out to roughly $22. TRIPTRAIN2P gives 2% off with no stated cap and is for customers who have already booked on Trip.com. One code per order.
Does the code also work on buses?
Yes. Both codes cover Trip.com's Trains & Buses section: Vietnamese trains, long-distance buses and sleeper buses sold on the platform. They do not apply to flights, hotels or activities, which have their own codes.
Is the Trip.com ticket accepted at the station?
Trip.com issues an e-ticket sent by email and available in the app. Show it with your passport when boarding. For some trains, Trip.com may ask for each passenger's passport details at booking time — have them ready.
Can I cancel or change a train ticket booked on Trip.com?
The conditions depend on the train and class and are shown before payment. Vietnamese train tickets are generally refundable with a fee and a cut-off before departure; read your ticket's cancellation policy before confirming.
The code does not work — what should I do?
Check four things: the code matches your situation (new or existing customer), the site is in English and USD (or French and EUR as a fallback), no other promotion is already applied, and the code was entered without spaces. If the problem persists, let us know: we update this page as soon as a code changes.
