Do British citizens need a visa for Vietnam?

This passport lets you enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days, whatever the purpose of your trip, until March 14, 2028 (Resolution 44/NQ-CP).

Valid for British citizen passports; BN(O) passports are not covered.

You can leave and come back: each entry gives you a new stay, with no waiting period between visits.

For a stay longer than 45 days, apply online for an e-visa before you travel.

The e-visa costs US$25 for a single entry or US$50 for multiple entries, lasts up to 90 days and is issued online in about 3 working days.

Apply only on evisa.gov.vn or thithucdientu.gov.vn: other sites are intermediaries that add their own fees.

The exemption also covers business trips such as meetings, trade fairs and conferences.

To work or study in Vietnam, you need a visa requested by a Vietnamese sponsor (employer or school), then a work permit or a temporary residence card. Visa exemptions and the e-visa don't replace it.

• Children under 14 must travel with a parent, a guardian or an authorised adult.
