Scooter, motorbike, car and bicycle rental in Hanoi
We surveyed 16 rental shops in Hanoi: best rated first, with their opening hours and a direct way to contact them. We are not paid by any of them.
Most of the motorbike shops on this list are in and around the Old Quarter: Hoàn Kiếm, Cửa Nam (near Hanoi railway station) and Hồng Hà, along the Red River dyke. Two of the bicycle rentals are in Tây Hồ, by West Lake, and car rental businesses, self-drive or with a driver, are further out, in Kim Liên, Ba Đình and Văn Miếu - Quốc Tử Giám.
Our guide to Hanoi rental apps puts an automatic scooter at ₫150,000 – ₫200,000 (≈ $6 – $8) per day; a semi-automatic costs less and a manual bike more (see the box).
Before you ride off, ask what the deposit is (passport or cash) and get a receipt, photograph the bike, check the brakes, lights and tyres, and wear the helmet provided.

How this list is made
We surveyed the scooter, motorbike, car and bicycle rental shops around the city centre on October 21, 2026. We kept businesses whose main activity is renting vehicles, rated 4/5 or more with at least 5 reviews, still open and claimed by their owner or with known opening hours; duplicates (same shop or same phone number) are removed.
Shops are ranked by rating × the logarithm of the number of reviews, with at most a few per vehicle type. Descriptions are written from the shop's own listing alone (categories, ward, opening hours, owner's description); ratings and reviews are those left by customers, not ours. No business pays to appear here and we have not tested them: check the bike or car, the price and the deposit on the spot. The list is updated every quarter.
