Hotel de l'Opera - MGallery Hanoi
Hotel de l'Opera - MGallery Hanoi delivers a consistently high-end experience anchored by exceptional staff service, a prime location near the Opera House and Old Quarter, and recently renovated rooms. However, noise from nearby nightlife and internal sources, along with inconsistent room lighting and climate control, are recurring drawbacks that prevent it from achieving flawless five-star status.
âWhat guests love
- Staff are universally praised for warmth, professionalism, and proactive problem-solving, including handling flight cancellations and arranging upgrades.
- Location is ideal for exploring Hanoi, within walking distance of Hoan Kiem Lake, the Opera House, the Old Quarter, and high-end shopping streets.
- Renovated rooms are described as spacious, elegantly designed, quiet, and equipped with very comfortable beds and high-quality linens.
- Breakfast buffet earns strong marks for variety and quality, with standout items including pho, made-to-order eggs, pastries, and fresh fruit.
- On-site amenities such as the spa (coffee scrub recommended), pool, fitness center, and executive lounge with complimentary canapés and cocktails are well-regarded.
!Worth knowing
- Noise is a significant issue: bass from nearby nightclubs (especially Shark Bar) can be heard until early morning, and internal renovation or housekeeping noise disrupts daytime rest.
- Many rooms are noted as excessively dark due to dim lighting and courtyard-facing windows, making reading or working difficult.
- Air conditioning and heating controls are inconsistent, with some units failing to adjust temperature or producing loud fan noise; hot water can take several minutes to arrive.
- The spa and pool have been closed for renovation without advance notice to guests, and some rooms show signs of wear (chipped furniture, uneven floors, leaky showers).

Top location in Hanoi, just some minutes away from Hoan Kiem Lake. The atmosphere at the hotel is cozy, elegant, and relaxing. We enjoy our stay at the hotel very much.
I have been travelling to Ha Noi two or three times a year since 2015 (covid years excluded), MGallery Hotel Opera was the first Ha Noi hotel I stayed in. An old hotel of history with the classic decor to present a unique charm in its own way. Tried the Vietnam chocolate that really inspired my taste buds. It had such a rich, smooth and silky flavor that I simply could not leave any single drop in the glass.
Chose this hotel for its location and was delighted to be given such a warm welcome. Rooms are well clean and well equipped and you have all you need. Breakfast buffet excellent lots of choice and every morning we we greeted with smiles. Bar is good for snacks and canapés. Would recommend

Surprisingly quiet rooms facing inner courtyard. Walking distance to Old Quarter and HoĂ n Kiáșżm Lake area. Comfortable but very high beds. Large bathroom with walk-in shower. Excellent breakfast that included custom-made omelettes and eggs Benedict!
18 hours of every day at the de l'Opera Hanoi were wonderful (although rooms do need better electric access for electronics); however, 6 hours, at least in the rooms we occupied, were plagued with bass from music being played somewhere, we know not where. We stayed for a night. Great location and service team. The hotel is located close to the Opera and the French Quarter. Its all walking distance. Good hotel with excellent service. The hotel overall was really nice and the staff was friendly and attentive, but the lobby smells like cigarettes at all times of the day and for a non-smoker, it was unenjoyable. Room and gym need updates. Strange room set up, Instant coffee and an electronic kettle, plus a tiny gym with old equipment does not define what a 5 star hotel should be.
Positive topics are the position, the service and breakfast. Room was quote old, without Windows and narrow. At the end they need a remodelling to be aligned to the offering provided by other international hotel chains.

This is not a 5 star hotel by international standards. At best, itâs a 3 star hotel. All the finishing, furniture, and decor are extremely dated and tacky. What an absolute scam. Do not trust the hotel photos. You should spend more on Sofitel rather than staying here. I cannot believe this gets 5 stars. They didnât even have money for a wall between the bedroom and toilet.
