Visiting President Ho Chi Minh’s relic site

On September 2, 1945, in Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence to proclaim the birth of Democratic Republic of Viet Nam. Celebrating the 65th anniversary of Viet Nam National Day (September 2), Vietnamese people and foreigners all over the world are touched when they reminisce about President Ho Chi Minh’s effort in the struggle for independence. Although President Ho Chi Minh passed away, every year hundreds of thousands of people visit President Ho Chi Minh’s relic site to express their deep gratitude to the great person of the Vietnamese nation.(Detail)

Glass paintings – unique heritage of Nguyen Dynasty

Glass paintings have specific characteristic of Hue royal fine arts thanks to their origin, representation and unique material. All the glass paintings remaining until today are legacy of Nguyen Dynasty. The Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has recently carried out a survey of “journey through Vietnam’s ancient capitals” tour to respond to National Tourism Year 2010 and lead up to the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi. The aim of this tourism program is to discover specific cultural and historical values of some Vietnamese ancient capitals through periods including Hung Temple (Phu Tho), Imperial Citadel of Thang Long (Hanoi), Hoa Lu Ancient Capital (Ninh Binh), Ho Citadel and Lam Kinh Relic (Thanh Hoa), Phuong Hoang Trung Do (Nghe An), Hue Imperial City (Thua Thien Hue) and Hoang De Citadel (Binh Dinh).(Detail)

A Folk Dance of Thang Long Land

Long before Thang Long, present-day Hanoi, covered such a vast area, its boundaries were surrounded by many villages, such as Trieu Khuc (in Thanh Tri District), Hao Nam (Dong Da) and Nhat Tan (Tay Ho). The people in these villages performed a folk dance, widely known by the local people as Bong.
